On the 15th of February 2005 Steve Chen, Chad Hurley and Jawed Karim - three former PayPal employees - bought the domain www.youtube.com.
On April, 23rd of that year it recorded the first account and uploaded the first video. It was at 8:27 p.m. and the video was called Me at the Zoo by Jawed Karim. It was just 19 seconds of recording time in front of the elephant cage at the zoo in San Diego.By June 2006 YouTube had already collected 100 million videos, and in the month of October of that same year, it was bought by Google for $ 1.65 billion.
