Breakfast, my love

If Milan is the perfect place to have an aperitif, Rome is unbeatable at breakfast time.
In fact, while either sipping their espresso or pouring sugar in their cappuccino, roman people look suddenly calm and relaxed, as if celebrating a rite. And what is more charming than a reassuring atmosphere?
I swear, I've had no delay in familiarizing with this pleasant custom, and as a strong believer of the saying that a good morning starts in the morning, I have been looking for those places where I can make it start even better...

VANNI                                                                                              Via Col di Lana, 10
Since 1929, this family-run confectioner's shop delights its clientele with high quality sweets, all strictly home-made. The mimosa cake with wild strawberries, which I bought for my daughter's birthday party, was simply delicious and widely appreciated. Vanni's croissants are among the best in town and they're baked over and over during the day, so even sleepyheads can enjoy breakfast here! Furthermore, being very close to different network television offices, it is a perfect place to people watch.

SETTEMBRINI                                                                                Via Settembrini, 21
Mainly known as a restaurant, and renowned among trendy locals for its high quality ingredients, it is my favorite place where to have breakfast. The cappuccino is so creamy and its croissants are the lightest! Unfortunately, you're not allowed to be late, because by 10:30 a.m. breakfast stocks are almost sold out!
Though facing a busy road, its outdoor furniture, made of comfortable sofas and armchairs, creates a cozy and friendly ambiance. Lately renovated, it also sells some of its products.

ANTICO CAFFE' GRECO                                                                          Via Condotti, 86
If since the end of the XVII century, Paris can boast "Le Cafe' Procope", and London "the Grecian", Rome had to wait just a few decades more, before its "Antico Caffe' Greco" appeared in the chronicles. Located a few footsteps from Piazza di Spagna, this historical landmark cafe' is still a renowned meeting point of local and international intellectuals. Stendhal, Goethe, Canova have been drinking coffee here. So, whether before or after a morning of unavoidable downtown shopping, this is a place to be seen.

BAR EUCLIDE                                                                                     Piazza Euclide, 45
Just like it happens in all big cities, living in Rome means mainly living the area where your home or office is. Parioli is one of the top addresses, and Piazza Euclide its heart. Swarms of wealthy students fill this square as soon as school's over, but in the morning a wide range of distinct people take advantage of a short break to stop at Bar Euclide for a coffee. Recently re-opened, after one and a half year renovation, this is definitely the place that will give your shopping day in the neighborhood a nice start!
