Walking downtown

Last Sunday the weather was so nice and warm, that I decided to go out with a dear friend of mine.

via Margutta
Pantheon
Piazza Navona

After a walk along the Tevere river and down the quiet Via Margutta, we passed by the Pantheon and reached Piazza Navona, packed with
street artists of all kinds.  We left  the magnificent view of the fountain of the Four Rivers , and turned into Via di Tor Millina, ending up in Vicolo del Fico.
I must confess: I adore walking big cities, filled with traffic and people, and suddenly finding myself in narrow, peaceful streets, crossed by sun rays...and...celebrations !?!

The Eritrean catholic community was in fact commemorating the Virgin Mary with songs and dances. Not to say, I  took some beautiful pictures before the rejoicing group disappeared.

Casa e Bottega
It was while we were following it, just like mice followed the pied piper, that we came across this charming little restaurant, recently opened in Via dei Coronari, renowned for its elegant antique shops.
The room inside is definitely small, but it looks very appealing, thanks to its wooden shelves and tables, its leather sittings and little vases with fresh flowers.
What a nice surprise, just in time for lunch! My friend had a very tasty pasta all'amatriciana, while my beef tartare (actually beef stew) was incredibly tender and savory. I have in mind to come back at tea-time one of these days, to taste that tempting cheese cake on which I set my eyes...
