Milan Fashion Week

Today Milan welcomes the penultimate Spring/Summer 2013 Fashion week of the season before Paris steals the show on Sept., 25.
After Mila Schön, this afternoon it will be the turn of Gucci, with two separate shows, for buyers and fashion editors. On Sunday Dolce & Gabbana and Giorgio Armani will present their collection, followed on Monday by Alberta Ferretti.
Lots of expectations are addressed to Roberto Cavalli's and to the British lingerie brand's, Agent Provocateur, new opening boutiques.
These days, Milan's atmosphere is at the top! And if you need a few gourmet addresses, I am ready to share mine with you!

A September Sunday

I always loved mid seasons. When sunlight is less intense and colors are softer.
If springtime gives new energies, autumn is the right time for balance and reflection.
In September then, everything announces the end of the summer and the arrival of a less clement climate.
In this season, the mildest of the year at these latitudes, what I like most is spending time outside, possibly in contact with the slowly changing nature.
And though Rome is full of parks and green areas, Villa Borghese remains my favorite.

Capri, my love

In spite of a mostly cloudy, and sometimes rainy, weather, I've had a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful time in Capri.
I enjoyed the sun (every possible minute)

About taking a break

I was ready not to go on holidays this summer. Too many tasks to accomplish before the beginning of a new school year. Too many future extra budget expenses related to my daughter's imminent college choice. And too much talk about Italy's critical economical and financial situation.
Well, take all these elements, put them in a shaker, add some strong sense of responsibility and...
Then I realized, I need a break from all the above mentioned. And I imagined just a few beautiful sunny days in Capri, my favorite holiday island in Italy, avoiding all kind of negative Tv news.
I took a deep breath, and I made the hotel reservation. And then the train, and the ferry ones...
Suitcases are ready, and so am I.
I wish you all a nice week, my dear readers...including myself. :)

Struggling with the heat

Rome is a boiling pot. Temperature and humidity are so unusually high, that the only way to survive the heat, is to spend these days by the seaside or, if not possible, in air-conditioned places.
Today I woke up early, and could not bear the idea of spending another day at home.
I headed to Fregene (plenty of people enjoying the last days of holiday), and I stopped at Toni's.
I loved the breeze and the milder temperature so much...

...that I even

GROM

If like me, you lost your appetite because of the heat, and the only food you're looking for must be cold and refreshing, then try this ice-cream shop.

Located in proximity of the Pantheon, Grom uses only bio food and the best quality on the market. I tasted its pistachio, nuts and coffee flavors, and they are incomparable to  any other ice-cream I ever had!

I am so glad, I bought some to keep in my refrigerator in case of emergency. This week is going to be the hottest in the whole summer!

Ferragosto

Everyone's reached the Italian shores or the Alps. The eternal city seems completely uninhabited, both during daytime...

La notte di San Lorenzo

The sky is clear, here in Rome. And tonight is the night of San Lorenzo, the night of the shooting stars. Each of these stars is believed to grant a wish. So I will lie down on a deck chair tonight, and stare at the sky, in search of as many stars as possible...

COROMANDEL

No doubt this a period of culinary experiences. A friend of mine just heard about this new restaurant, located a few steps away from Piazza Navona, so the other night, she organized a dinner there.

Coromandel carries only 26 seats, and is a very
